While going through the accomplishments needed to complete my ribbons today, I noticed that I was 6 buildings away from the Red Architect Ribbon. I looked through the Buildings section in FarmVille...but everything seemed to cost too much to be worth paying for to complete a ribbon.
Then, it occurred to me that I already had 2 Rest Tents (@ 1,000 coins apiece) and both were counting towards my building total. So, I went ahead and bought enough rest tents to complete my ribbon, and talk about value!! Take a look at these statistics for cost / XP were you to buy only rest tents to fulfill the Architect building requirement. Note that '# Tents' is how many more tents it will take to fulfill your requirement, not the total number of tents needed.

Four Tips to Get XP and Level Up Fast
If you want to Level Up faster than you currently are, there are a number of different ways to do so aside from plowing plots and planting seeds. Your level growth doesn't have to be limited to the size of your farm! Some of these tips may seem simple, but combining them all together will help you to gain XP quicker!
1. Keep your gifts wrapped till Christmas - One of the ribbon tasks is entitled 'Not Spoiled, Gifted'. You receive ribbons (and in turn, XP and cash) for keeping your unique gifts wrapped. Once you reach 21 ribbons, you receive the blue ribbon, a very substantial gift of XP and cash, and you can now open all of your gifts at once.
2. Buy a few decorations each time you plant - The best decoration for your money is Hay Bales, which I discuss in detail here. Hay bales = 5 XP for 100 Coins = Awesome. In addition, for most other decorations you buy, XP is recieved in bulk quantities. If you make a conscious effort to add this at the end of your planting schedule, the little XP from each purchase adds up and helps you achieve your goals quicker.
3. Be a helper all day, every day - You receive 5 XP and 20 coins for each time you help your neighbor. This can be done at least once a day, and FarmVille will send you random alerts asking you to help your freinds. 5 XP may not seem like alot, but if you have 20 freinds, thats 100 XP every single day. Over a week, that equals 700 XP, which might actually be enough to level up in some lower levels. In any case, reward yourself for taking advantage of the social aspects of FarmVille.
4. Complete ribbon challenges - Each ribbon gives you a certain amount of XP, and most of the earlier ribbons are quite easy to achieve. Knock out the early ribbons ASAP, and focus on the easiest ribbons to achieve, which are 'Not Spoiled, Gifted' and 'Pack Rat'. Completing these will net you a ton of extra XP!
Just as in life, the little things can help your XP go sky high!

New Farmville Seeds: Grapes, Peas, and Asparagus
At around 11PM tonight, September 10, FarmVille did a few upgrade and added some new items, including 3 new seeds!
Grapes are available as of level 19, and are a fantastic addition to a diverse farm. They take 1 day to grow, cost 85 coins (100 with plow), and sell for a whopping 270 coins! They also give 2 XP, making them considerably better than the previous 1-day seed, Peppers. A must grow for anyone at Level 19 or more. Plant Grapes everyone! I know I will be!!
Peas is available at Level 32, while Asparagus is available at Level 37. It will be awhile before I'm there (currently @ Level 20)...but I can't wait to plant them!

What Should I Buy With Farm Cash?
Depending on whether or not you are willing to spend real hard earned dollars on FarmVille, deciding what to spend your Farm Cash on may be a bit of a tough decision.
Sure, if you have lots of Farm Cash, this doesn't matter. However, when you are just starting to get the hang of FarmVille, you may be wondering if you should spend the 7 or 8 Farm Cash that you have, or save it up for something nice.
My answer is, just as in real life, you should save your Farm Cash for something bigger down the road. Sure, that Water Trough might fit in perfectly right next to your animal pen, or a Garden Gnome would look oh so nice next to your Rest Tent. The problem is, after you spend your Farm Cash, its hard to get more without paying money or signing up for offers.
My solution is to save 20 Farm Cash for the Plantation Expansion on your farm. You must expand your farm in increments, and how cool would it be to go from a 16x16 farm, buy the 18x18 (Big Family Farm), and then spend 20 Farm Cash for the 20x20 (Plantation farm). You instantly have 144 more farm plots to make alot more coins with!
Regardless of what you spend your Farm Cash on, make sure you take time to spend it on something you like or really want, because it isn't the easiest thing to get back ones its gone.

How do I Get Farm Cash?
There are two types of currency in FarmVille. Coins are the game's mainstay form of achieving wealth, and are earned by harvesting seeds and trees, achieving ribbon goals, helping friends out on their farms, or the daily raffle. Farm Cash, however, is a good bit harder to come by. There are three ways to earn it, and only one of which is for free (in terms of money and time.)
1. The Free Way - Every time you level up, the game awards you 1 (one) Farm Cash.
2. The Money Way - Farm Cash can be purchased with real money in the following increments:
$5.00 - 25 Farm Cash
$10.00 - 55 Farm Cash
$20.00 - 115 Farm Cash
$40.00 - 240 Farm Cash
3. The Time Way - Sign Up for free/paid offers in which you spend alot of time giving away your personal information (address, cellphone, email) to many different companies.
Most people choose the free route, though there are a number of things within the game that cannot be achieved without getting more than 1 Farm Cash every level up.
The Time Way is the next most popular option. However, be prepared to spend a looong time filling out various forms for the free offers, or end up paying money anyway for the paid offers.
The Paid Way is a little fuzzier. Some people make the argument that FarmVille is on Facebook so it should they have to pay to get anything in the game. Others think that the developer's have worked hard on this game and deserve to throw in some optional items that people can spend money on. I am on the side of the developers on this one. If there is something special you really want on your farm, why not spend a couple dollars to get it, when you have spend hours enjoying a game for free?
All three ways are certainly acceptable. The level of your personal involvement in your farm will dictate whether or not you want to pay for a special item, or just keep racking in the coins from an entire farm filled with fruits and veggies :).

Hay Bales and XP - The Best Decoration for your Money
Hay Bales are the best way to earn XP, as the old-fashioned hay bale gives you 5 XP for every 100 coins spent. Now, Zynga has made it even easier to gain XP without having to continuously click into the market to to buy every hay bale! Hay Bales, Fences, and Hedges are now as easy to buy as seeds are to plant. Therefore, you can gain alot of XP with alot fewer clicks. Sounds like a plan to me!
Personally, I buy hay bales when I am close to leveling up, and can't wait to see what the next new crop is. It makes economical sense. If you were planting seeds, most wouldn't give you that much XP for the same price. Moreover, most decorations don;t give you anywhere near the same XP margin. Coming next: Data to prove my point: Buy Hay Bales (especially the red, white, and blue ones so all of you Americans out there can make a cool American flag hay bale decoration on your plantation :))

What seeds provide the most coins in Farmville?
The Best Seeds in Farmville - Level 11
As each farmer levels up in Farmville, new seeds, trees, and items become available for planting. Each seed costs a particular amount of money, takes a certain amount of time to grow, and gives varying amounts of XP. The following information can assist in your decision about which seeds to plant, trees to grow, or items to buy to help you get the most out of your farm. I am currently at Level 11, so as I proceed through the levels of Farmville this table will update accordingly.| Seed | Hours | XP Gained | Net Profit | Coins/HR | XP/HR |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Strawberry | 4 | 1 | 10 | 2.5 | 0.25 |
| Eggplant | 48 | 2 | 48 | 1 | 0.04 |
| Wheat | 72 | 2 | 65 | 0.9 | 0.03 |
| Soybean | 24 | 2 | 33 | 1.38 | 0.08 |
| Squash | 48 | 2 | 66 | 1.38 | 0.04 |
| Pumpkin | 48 | 1 | 23 | 2.88 | 0.13 |
| Artichoke | 96 | 2 | 119 | 1.24 | 0.02 |
| Rice | 12 | 1 | 36 | 3 | 0.08 |
| Raspberries | 2 | 0 | 11 | 5.5 | 0 |
| Cotton | 72 | 2 | 117 | 1.63 | 0.03 |
| Bell Peppers | 48 | 2 | 108 | 2.25 | 0.04 |
Now, the important question: Which seed should I grow?
There are a number of factors that come into play, such as time you have to play the game and whether you are attempting to get quick cash or build more experience over time.
Question 1: I need coins now! Do I plant quick-growing seeds or seeds that take a day or more to grow?
For quick cash on lower levels, grow strawberries. End of discussion. Plow your entire farm and plant Strawberries over the entire thing. Were you to do this 3 times in one day, you would be 4320 coins richer!! That being said, make sure you harvest them quickly (within 4 hours), or your entire field will smell (and look) like wilted strawberries.Once you can plant raspberries, they provide more than double the coins/hour of strawberries, and only take two hours to grow. Over a 12 hour period, you have the chance to make over 9500 coins. However, raspberries provide no XP, making it harder to level up.
Rice and Pumpkins are also a good option for those who cannot check their Farmville accounts because of work or school. Rice takes 12 hours to grow as opposed to 8 hours for pumpkins, and will give you a little more value over a 12 hour period.Answer: Grow Strawberries if you can check Farmville every 4-8 hours. They give the best ratio of coins/hr and XP/hr!
Question 2: I really want to level up! What seed allows me to level up the fastest?
Out of all seeds, Strawberries provide the best XP upgrades at .25 XP every hour. However, limitations in checking facebook may keep your strawberry planting efforts fastened to the weekend.Pumpkins are the second best option, providing a little over half the value of strawberries at .13 XP / hour.
After that, its basically a toss up, with Rice coming in third place on my list simple because it provides better coins/HR value along with the XP provided.
Answer: For weekends or days off, plant strawberries. Otherwise, pumpkin seeds not only taste good when cooked and salted, but provide the best XP/HR value for your farm.
Question 3: I have to go away for a 2-3 days and won't be able to play Farmville :(. Which seed should I plant?
Days away from Farmville mean its time to dip into the long term crops to make sure your farm is still getting better while you are away.Answer: At lower levels, plant Squash for a two day retreat and Wheat for a three day excurstion. A full field of Squash will net you 9504 coins, while Wheat will provide you with 9360 coins.
At level 11, substitute Bell Peppers for squash if you'll be away for 2 days. They offer about 6000 more coins than squash (15552 as opposed to 9504). Also, make sure to substitute Cotton for Wheat. Cotton provides close to double the coins (16848) as wheat, but does provide the same amount of XP.
All of this is strictly my opinion, which I have based on research and a little math :). If you have any thoughts, please feel free to comment on your favorite seeds to plant!
